some 3191 news and the next collection

I wanted to let everyone know that our 3191 book site has been updated, and our evenings project is going strong. Photos from the morning project are also featured in the latest issue (#16) of the very cool beyond magazine. You can subscribe or buy individual issues here.

Book prep is keeping me pretty busy this month, so there won't be a new collection in the shop until March 5th when you'll find:
The name is both a celebration of the great month of March and a clue to some of the offerings. I'll be posting what I'm working on here over the next few weeks, so do continue to check in!

*thank you* and a word on the shop

A big thank you to everyone who came and purchased something from the love notes collection. The little quirky things that I make are really dear to me, and it's exciting to find people that appreciate them!

I've been receiving a lot of emails wondering why there's nothing in my shop. Currently, my shop has been selling out really quickly, within minutes, actually. I know that this is really frustrating and nerve-racking for some of you who have had your eye on things. I wish I could find a way to keep it better stocked, but, at this time, I'm crafting as many things as my time and material constraints allow. I am trying out making multiples of things and hope to add some card sets in the next update as well. I do wish that I could make something for each and every one of you, I do, but special orders are just not possible at this time.

In the meantime, watching this blog for when the next collection will be offered is your best bet. Thanks so much for your continued support and interest!

ps: There's a Q&A with me over at sfgirlbybay if you're interested. Thanks Victoria!

pet rocks

I spend a fair bit of time in the woods with my family, and my kids are often filling my pockets with bits and pieces of nature, many of which ultimately inspire the things that I make. On a particularly chilly hike last week, I was fingering a smooth stone and wishing it wasn't so, well, cold. The idea for these slipcovered stones was born.

They are all stones that we have collected on our adventures, each one with a hand-sewn cover of gray wool flannel with contrasting thread. I will be offering them in pairs (one light gray with red thread, one dark gray with light blue thread). Display them together or keep one and slip the other into a pocket of a friend. They will be a part of the love notes collection added to the shop tomorrow, January 22nd at 11 am *Pacific* Standard Time.

love notes

This year I thought I'd try something new in the shop. In an effort to keep things interesting for both you and me, I've decided to create periodic mini-collections based on a theme. Each collection will only be offered once and will allow me to both create new designs and re-interpret past favorites, all centered around one theme.
My first mini-collection is Love Notes and will be available in my shop on Tuesday, January 22nd at 11 am pst. It is a collection of alternative Valentines, including these twigs with the message, "I'm sticking with you" (a tribute to my pun-loving husband). They are constructed of brown linen, natural cashmere and printed cottons and are stuffed with 100% wool. The Gocco screenprinted tags are attached with linen twine. The perfect something to leave behind for someone you love.

happy new year!

Hello everyone!

Sorry to have been absent from this space, but I took some time off to spend with family over the holidays. I have also been at work on the book version of 3191, A Year of Mornings. Very exciting! It will be published by Princeton Architectural Press in the fall of 2008. For updates visit our book site.

I've also done a new year's clean out of my studio and I'm ready to get back to work. I'm going to be making some fun changes to my shop this year. Stay tuned for more news about that.

Cheers!
